PLAQUE DESIGN FOR SHIKOKU-MURA (MUSEUM OF SHIKOKU PRIVATE HOUSES)

Shikoku-mura is an outdoor museum, and opened in 1976 at the foot of Sanukiyashima. Farmhouses built in the middle period of Edo, and designated as important cultural properties were reconstructed at Shikoku-mura, along with traditional private houses.

The Museum has been just expanded, and plaques explaining the private houses, people's lives in the houses, and tools used in the houses were also rebuilt, along with directional signs and notices. The project consisted of:

  1. Surveying the existing conditions
  2. Checking and editing statements on the plaques
  3. Designing the plaques
  4. Supervising construction
